  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Guardiola will bring an end to his nine-year trophy-laden spell as City boss in 2025, when he reaches the end of his current contract with the club, according to Football Insider. The former Barcelona boss is also being tipped to follow in Jurgen Klopp's footsteps by taking a break from football after he departs. Guardiola also took a sabbatical after he left Barcelona in 2012 before moving on and joining Bayern Munich.

    Manchester City will face a tough challenge replacing Guardiola. The Catalan coach has delivered five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League during his time at the club, with the Cityzens currently on course for another treble. Yet there is potential trouble looming in the shape of the 115 Premier League charges the club are facing for alleged FFP violations. It has been claimed that the club could face a hefty points deduction if found guilty. The charges are expected to be heard in the autumn.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has been touted as a potential successor along with Mikel Arteta, Zinedine Zidane and Julian Nagelsmann. Former City captain Vincent Kompany has also been mentioned but has insisted he's "way down the rankings."
