Frank offered Man City forward as Tottenham tempted by "interesting" deal

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is in need of more attacking options ahead of his first full season in charge, and he could now be handed an opportunity to welcome a Man City star to N17.

In the space of one week, Spurs have lost two major outlets going forward.

Lilywhites legend Son Heung-min officially completed a move to LAFC earlier this week, bringing an end to his glittering 10-year spell at Spurs.

The 33-year-old captained the side for one final time on his home soil in their pre-season clash against Newcastle last Sunday, with fans in Seoul treated to an emotional farewell from one of the country’s greatest-ever players.

It was a moment packed with emotion. A lap of honour, a stadium singing his name, but the reality is clear – Tottenham must now face life without their talisman.

Son’s departure to the MLS is a landmark moment for him personally, but for Spurs, Frank must now cope without both a leader behind-the-scenes and a devastating forward on his day.

The winger’s 173 goals in 454 appearances will take some replacing, and to add insult to injury, Tottenham are poised to be without playmaker James Maddison for a large portion of the campaign.

Maddison was stretched off against Newcastle last weekend, suffering an injury to the same knee which kept him out at the end of last season. Scans have since confirmed the worst – a ruptured ACL. He’s now set to undergo surgery and miss the majority of 25/26.

FFC Spurs – James Maddison

It’s a massive setback for Frank, who had seemingly planned to build his attack around the England international. Maddison was one of the side’s standout performers last term when fit and available, and without him, Spurs are desperately short of creativity in midfield.

The club is now expected to accelerate plans to sign an attacking midfielder before the window closes, with Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott among Spurs’ potential No.10 targets.

Tottenham offered chance to sign Man City forward Savinho

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, writing for TBR Football, Man City forward Savinho has been put forward to the weakened north Londoners by agents.

The Brazil international, who can operate on both flanks, also played as a CAM at sporadic points last season – namely against Salford City in the FA Cup and in City’s shock Club World Cup defeat to Al-Hilal.

Tottenham have been offered Savinho by intermediaries, as per Bailey, and it’s an “interesting” opportunity that they could be tempted by.

“Savinho has come up in conversations and put to Tottenham,” said the reporter.

“At this point, it is not envisaged that Savinho would leave City, but he is a player that Spurs have liked, if he became available, could be an interesting option.”

The 21-year-old only joined Pep Guardiola’s side last summer, bagging 13 assists in all competitions – two more than Maddison managed last term.

He was in and out of the starting eleven towards the end of the 24/25 Premier League season, and Savinho would be guaranteed more game time at Tottenham in the aftermath of their attacking shortage, so this could be one to keep an eye on.
